Christmas Eve boxes

What do you think of the craze for Christmas Eve boxes. Apparently the idea is you give a box to a child to settle them ready for Christmas day. Items to include pyjamas, bubble bath, a family game and a seasonal book. My children would have received these gifts in their Christmas stocking. Is it consumerism gone mad. What next the day before Christmas Eve boxes? My family unfortunately will have to put up with tracking Santa, singing carols and watching a seasonal film

Actually this is something we always did on Christmas Eve, we did not buy anything 'extra' just things you mention Pam; pyjamas, and a Christmas story book. Loved Christmas Eve more than the actual day to be honest.

I am just ghetto same as I was as a kid so excited I can't sleep. I still get up very early but have to wait till everyone else is up before opening presents. I love Christmas morning listening to carols opening presents having the family together and above all thinking how lucky we are as a family to be together have a roof over our heads have a wonderful meal to eat and to be healthy

I agree with you Pam. I think the idea of Christmas Eve Boxes is just another way for retailers to make even more money. This capitalistic overconsumption is destroying our environment. It's lovely to spend special times with your loved ones on Christmas eve but why not just open a small pressie have some hot chocolate and then off to bed or fill some stockings with the items that you mentioned?

Just another venal ploy by shops to persuade parents (and other family members) to spend more cash at Christmas. Ridiculous! You're doing the right thing, Pam1960, hopefully others won't fall for this con either.
