Hi from Scotland

Hello. I’m Mike. Just joined out of curiosity really. I’m 69 (for just a few more weeks) All the boring stuff about me is in my profile. I’ll be happy to just chat. Not looking for partner or anything. Or any arguments. I moved from London to Central Scotland 6 months ago. My hobbies include bird watching, Plane spotting, Photography & video & computers.

FAREWELL
It has been short. Can't say it has been sweet. This is the set up of the site not the people. 100 % Disarray . might try going via Facebook
Cheerio good people.

Hello ... sorry you weren't getting the response you were hoping for from our community ... I can see you've been with us for a couple of days, and I guess it takes a while to form bonds with new friends ... Speakers Corner is particularly active at the moment so it may be worth popping back there. Feel free to take a look at our Facebook page too. I can see that you are keen on Photography ... Have you seen our Showcase area? ... each day a large number of our community share their photos there and this is also linked back onto our Facebook page ... We have some very keen birdwatchers so take a look in the Showcase and perhaps you will be pleasantly surprised? Best wishes, Sally

I posted a thing called Scottish Experiment under Humour but have I have a feeling it won't be seen, rather than type it all out go take a look. Not sure how long it takes to pass muster though.
thanks

Hi to all fellow Scots
I am fairly new to the site, almost 24 hrs.
Its not the easiest site to follow and the forum equally confusing.
the reply button for instance its not clear (to me anyhow) whether its for the original post or for the person who has responded.
I decided to use the private chat button that way I know it should have got to the right person.
So if you have received a PM don't be shy ... click and reply.

Hello I've just joined this site after an ad popped up on my newsfeed! I don't know why facebook thought I might be interested in it as I'm too young to be a Silversurfer.... ahem..........well I feel too young to be a Silversurfer lol. Wondering if there are members living in or around the Penicuik Midlothian area?
Response from JollyB made on 22nd Dec 2016 11:35:54
At 74 I'm definitely old enough for this site. Sorry not near Pennicuik. I'm SWest.

Hi Jinty

I live in Edinburgh so fairly close. if you fancy a chat let me know.
I do work and use the computer all day so sometimes when I get home I choose carefully what I log into just in case you reply and think I am ignoring you.

Just joined the Silver Servers. I'm not good @ computers, so I'm not sure how this site works. I've already got everything wrong, and that's just in the last few mins. Very nervous about this.
Response from jeanymay made on 1st Nov 2016 17:29:44
Hi Gina and welcome. What bits are you struggling with ? Can I help ?
Most things are accessible from the home page, so don't be frightened to explore and click on things that's the best way to find out.
Response from ecarg made on 1st Nov 2016 19:21:41
It does take a bit of navigating, I find the my history bit (green square)really useful as you can see exactly what you have done or read and clicking on them will take you back to the same place . I am enjoying reading some interesting posts and getting some good advice ,so stick with it and I'm sure you will be glad you joined Silver Surfers.I sound like an ad !
Response from Frank made on 22nd Dec 2016 17:42:27
Go on don't worry just switch of and start again computers are so clever nowadays they more or less will not allow you to break them. Just use the computer and laugh at yourself when you make a mistake it's fun really. F

Being on my own, I thought this might be another interest for me. A bit of interaction with someone is good therapy but will need to search further as this area seems a bit jumbled and I haven't yet found anything to comment on.
Response from ecarg made on 22nd Dec 2016 16:15:27
Hi Jolly B
I noticed you said you are from the S/west so am I Dumfries and Galloway
It does take a little while to get used to the site but you can create a topic for discussion if you like.
Response from JollyB made on 22nd Dec 2016 17:04:44
You're in a lovely area. I'm actually Ayrshire. When time allows I will spend a bit more time searching the site to familiarise myself with it. Could take a while!!

Hi. Just joined today. In 2014, aged 59 I relocated back to Scotland after 26yrs living in Australia. I was divorced in 2010 and facing retirement alone in my adopted country (kids were gone by this time) I foolishly and naively thought I would follow my heart and return back to my native homeland. Everything/everyone has changed, I've changed and I'm finding making new friends difficult. I started working part time to meet people, but it seems to me that everyone is busy with their own lives and my enthusiasm at starting over again has waned. Joining here is just another means to fill that lonely void and reach out and communicate.
Response from Margie Joe Veljacic made on 11th Nov 2016 08:49:31
We did the same in 2004 - from Zimbabwe - found it very difficult to fit in - at our age most folk have the circle of friends so always felt on the outside. We joined a nice small church and have made a few friends but not like friends from my past - it is very hard getting into new circles here and I miss my friends terribly

I suppose going on a tram may be something for my "bucket list" - a virtual list that is - just an idea.
Response from MorrisandDoris made on 20th Sep 2016 12:50:16

Hello Mike ,,you seem to like solitary pleasures, all of 'em. !!! You are in the right place for 3 of them.
and you wouldn't want any conversation with the others. Haven't looked at your ""boring stuff "" yet, it
is probably science fiction . talking to you is no problem, and you will be quite safe from interruption
My "boring stuff" is also on my profile,, short and sweet ,,and totally opposite to yours,,.
however ,chat is what we are here for, .Don't quite know how you got onto my forum ???

Hi I stay in the central borders of Scotland. I pay a visit to the site periodically and enjoy what I see. I have managed to stay reasonably fit over the years and still lead a very active life. At this moment in time I am about to write a dvd disc called Soddin Flodden written and performed by John Nichol. John is a very well known actor in this area and highly talented. Anyway thats enough to be going on with keep well everyone and enjoy surfing the web. F

Hi Elin, Yes, I am interested in Scotland. I lived in Aberdeen for three years during 1969-1972 and fell in love with that part of UK. I still have some close friendsin several parts of that country. Are you from England? You say that you have been living there for the past 18 years hence this question.
Response from Elin made on 20th Sep 2016 09:30:05
I am from Iceland, but my husband is from Scotland. I moved here after we got married, but must admit that I have never really felt at home.
Response from Ariadne made on 15th Oct 2016 07:18:24

Hi. Sorry. Only just spotted your response to my post. I live with my daughter, or rather, she lives with me. We've been in our new house for 18 months now. My interests are birds of the feathered variety but also the larger ones which fly over at 40-50.000 ft!
Response from ian blair made on 6th Jul 2016 00:12:32
Hi ecarg or should I call you Grace?
I'm curious to know how you have been received as an English person living in Scotland as I was born in Glasgow and lived for 18 years in Essex. I was always well accepted by neighbours and workmates and I loved the people and the climate . I have often thought of it as the best time of my life . I live in Australia now but if I ever return to Europe, I would go back to Essex.

Hi, Mlhmb just got my iPad working properly again! You ask where in Scotland am I, and I am in the hillfoots outside Stirling. I am a friendly person who mixes well, but I have found that the local village people, are wrapped up in their own little bubbles, and just not interested in anyone who is an 'outsider.'

Hi there
My dad was a gorgie and I love the accent but you have probably heard that before. I like writing on my second book or trying to still revising my first, computers not bad but could throw them out the window frequently. Birds I love have lots come to my garden and the cats are banned from touching sometimes works.
I love films but not into horror any more need romatic mushy stuff because I like happy endings but love scifi not keen on star wars the only good thing about them was the spark between Hans solo and chew bacca so now he is gone no more star wars. Big fan of star trek love the new ones wish they would do more. Like Queen, beatles and many more. Hope you will stop by for a chat.
