I have just joined up and am here to say Hello!!

Hi everybody, I have finally taken the plunge and joined the Silversurfers. I have never done anything like this before but felt it was time I did, new year new things and experiences. I have been a widow for many years, I am a carer that works with mental health, I have two children that lead their own lives, due to my job I hardly see them anyway. I love the outdoors, walking, gardening and I do lots of knitting, sewing etc, I am a very social person so when I have time I meet up with friends for a chat and lunch. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and hope you all have a great New Year

Hello Rosie
I eventually joined the site in January. I am retired but I keep busy, between volunteering a few hours each week and taking part in other activities. I have met lots of new people and of course I really like my "ladies who lunch" with friends every week. I like walking (when its not raining) and my garden in the summer. Just started knitting again after discarding every pattern I had. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year

Hi all, I'm new to this site too, joined about half an hour ago so don't really know what I'm doing yet.
I'm 57 and female, I have recently retired from work due to ill health, I worked as a Community mental health nurse for 25 years, I'm married to someone with the same job as I did so there's no getting away from it ha ha, I have six grandchildren ranging from 21 down to 4 yrs old.
I'm determined to go away for Christmas period next year as the little ones will all be going their other grandparents.
Anyone know of somewhere nice which is dog friendly as we have a spoilt 8 year old Westie. Sorry I forgot to say I live in South Wales.

Hi I just joined to. Not on Facebook Twitter or Instagram. Never joined anything before. I use I pad but mainly Google on it or message grandchildren who run rings round me. My seven year old granddaughter was showing me how to send photos and videos on Boxing Day! I have two married busy children and five grandchildren 11,8,7,5 and 8 months. Approaching 60 fast (2017) times flying by so I want to travel more and have some times with like minded people. I enjoy the outdoors and visiting nice places and gardens. Have been looking after grandchildren since giving up work in 2007. Four at school one little one to go. I am very sociable and chatty I think I need to get out and about more.

Hi busy nana think you will enjoy Silversurfers as there are a lot of friendly people to chat to. We have 3 kids in their early twenties but no grandchildren yet!

Thanx for the reply I know I pressed the right bit now. First grandchild born when I was forty seven so it was easy looking after her. The youngest little boy our daughters third was born prematurely in May so it's been a roller coaster year. Living in Wales we are lucky to have nice places to take them.Lucky to live up a hill in all this horrific wet windy weather. So awful for people who have been flooded. Back soon.
