Long Stay Holidays
Watch this postHi all - First post for me.
My wife and I are currently in Cyprus. Having planned a Winter stay from November to March we find ourselves here for a bit longer due to the virus. Whilst here we've met dozens of like-minded people from different parts of Europe who do this every year. This seems like a great idea to us going forward and we're already planning ours for this coming Winter.
My questions is, if you've been on a long-stay trip (anything over a month), where did you stay and why would you recommend it? And, if any of you are in the Eastern part of Cyprus then let me know - great to share stories. Stay well everyone. N&J

My 2 winter stays in Cyprus didn’t suit as I had some atrocious weather in December and January both times and the accommodation was so poorly insulated it was like living in a garage.
My pattern to date has been November in Cyprus on a 6 week long stay hotel deal. To Paphos rather than the Eastern end. Christmas in Uk and then mid January when the flights get cheaper to Emirates until the end of February. Back to Uk and then to Madeira for a month.
I had friends who did winter in Cyprus ie October to December and then to Florida until March and then back to Cyprus until May. Another friend set off for Perth in Western Australia every November by ship. An apartment was then rented in an apartment hotel and a cruise back to Southampton in March. She actually lived in a seniors development in Kent so it was an easy lock up and leave here in the UK. I spent a winter in Perth too and had a great time although it got a bit too hot for me. Fremantle would be my choice if I went back as it is small and friendlier with a vibrant arts scene. I flew there via Singapore.
All this might be a thing of the past however as travel becomes both riskier and more difficult until the world recovers from Covid 19.
