My young nephew wants fashionable very expensive clothes. Am I being unreasonable?

I mistakenly bought him what I thought was £38, when it arrived they were wrong but to get a replacement would cost another £40. I have refused to buy another.

Hi Felix,
You haven't given us a great deal of information! How old is your nephew and what were you buying him? I come from a fairly large family and it used to cost me a fortune buying birthday and Christmas presents for my nieces and nephews and then their children as well. Incidentally, I was lucky if I even got a birthday or Christmas card from them so when I retired I told them that I couldn't afford to buy them all presents anymore. I still send birthday and Christmas cards but that is it.
