What book are you currently reading?

Do you use a Kindle or similar or do you prefer a real book to hold?
I have just finished reading the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, which my youngest daughter is studying for ‘A’ Level. It is a devastating, masterful and painfully honest story … it tells the gripping account of a boyhood friendship destroyed by jealousy, fear, and ruthless evil.
The Kite Runner is an astonishing, powerful book that had me riveted from the first to the last page. It is a story of fierce cruelty and yet redeeming love, as well as of an intimate account of family and friendship.
I found it compelling and disturbing and opened my eyes to how evil reigns in the Middle East. Next on my list is A Thousand Splendid Suns written by the same author.

I'm reading at the moment The Red House by A.A. Milne, and before that I was reading Life after Life by Kate Atkinson, I love her books.
I read Angels and Demons a while ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dan Brown 's strength I think is in his short chapters which always seem to leave you on a cliff edge, yet because they are short you can leave the book at any time and go back to it. Ideal for holidays or traveling.
Recently read M.R Hall's 'Flight' - brilliant! Part of his coroner series.
Kindles have their place, but I much prefer a paper book with a nice bookmark!
In fiction, my best read for a long time has been C J Sansom's Dominion, a "what-if" book - in this case "What if Germany had won the war?". It' s the usual fantasy stuff, but an entirely plausible, fictional, look at what might have been. Highly recommended.:-)
I had the sample and it appeared to give me something of interest since it tells of a place called Gloversville in upstate NY, an area I am well familiar with. Instead Mr.Russo writes about his mother ( who I am not familiar with but became so by the end of the book). No doubt it all had great depth and it all depends why we want to read a certain book.
Soooo my next download is an el cheapo and it looks quite entertaining.
I love reading about places I know and about people who do interesting things in their lives. I love local history and life styles.
