Winter fuel payments - have you had yours yet?

Last year I received my winter fuel payment Nov 21; has anybody got theirs yet as I haven't? Just wondering. Neil

OK I just phoned DWP and they told me they still owe lots of people their payments and yes they are late but payments will be made by 23rd December. She told me staff have been reduced from 8000 to 2000 with most of them operating from home.

I have telephoned the WFP line this morning and have spoken to an advisor x She said there is no glitch in the system it's just that payments are late this year x I received my letter dated 5th Nov and have always been paid in November x She advised that if I havent received a payment by 23rd Dec to call back x Hopefully we will get paid soon x

What makes me laugh about their advice to call back on 23rd Dec, if we haven't received it is
who is going to answer then and be able do anything about it until the New Year.

Good thinking, Surely other MPs are aware from their constituents.
I just wish DWP offered an explanation and perhaps apology for the delay in their letters. Wishful thinking on my part haha!
Response from Canarybird made on 3rd Dec 2020 16:20:55
Hi, I always receive my letter first and then payment four days later. Not this year though.

In previous years my WFP made on or around Nov. 24th. I got a letter around 12th but as yet now Dec. 3rd nowt has arrived. All my friends though have got theirs. Looks like there are gonna be some heated people by Dec. 23rd on jammed phone lines to WFP.

I received a letter dated Nov 12th informing me I would be receiving my winter fuel payment shortly.
No! as several members have commented, I also in the past have received mine, anytime between Nov 20 th & 30th.
This year nothing, yet!

Are they just slow this year or what? surely this is an automated system which the computer just kicks the money out on a given date.?

We recieved our winter fuel letter this year on the 21st of October and it has always gone in within about 1-2 weeks later automatically with no problems in the past. Sadly not the case this year. It is now the 1st of December, six weeks later, and still no payment in to the bank. When we first recieved our letter we actually noticed the bank details on it for our payment were incorrect, even though we have never changed them for the past nine years. We immediately got on the phone to the WFP and re-corrected this, and was told our payment was safe and would still go in ok. Two weeks went by and still no money. Was begining to get concernd the bank details were still wrong so we phoned to check. Took another very long twenty minute wait to get through, but finally did, and was told our detailes had been changed back and the money was due to go in the very next day on the 20th November. Feeling a little more assured we thanked the gentleman and left it at that. The money still did not go in. Phoned back again for the final third time and was told the money had been paid into our account on the 20th November but would take five working days to clear. This was to be the very next day on the 27th November. It is now the 1st of December and yet again still no Winter Fuel Payment. Feels like they are just constantly lieing to us. No idea now, when or even if we will recieve it.

Thank you Sally for your reply. With all that’s going on this year some people really rely of these little bits of help, especially over Christmas. But so far I haven’t heard of anyone who's actually received their winter fuel payment this year. When we last phoned we were told they had swapped it to a different computer system, but why didn’t they set it up much earlier in the year and check that people’s details were all correct before leaving it to just before payments were due to go out. Total madness as per usual.
