First time on here Say hello

Good afternoon, First time on here, I thought I would say Hi and see what follows.

I'm 57 semi-retired. Been at home for the last year with covid lockdown just like everyone else. Lucky to have family living with me so has been easier on me then a lot of others I know. Although we all caught Covid 19 and I had to spend 3 weeks in hospital. We have recovered thankfully. I am looking to make friends to open my circle of friends.

You find that when you go out to work you leave the house early and return late so you don't really get a chance to chat with neighbours etc especially in winter you just want to get in and shut the door. Well I thought this may be the place to find like-minded people, who have a little more time on their hands.

It would be nice to have a chat over a coffee on here. I am happily married with 3 grown children and one lovely 8 yr old granddaughter. So please say hello next time you're on and I look forward to making some new friends. I hope you all have a good week ahead of you.

I am also happily married and semi-retired from the diary business. We still work long days but much shorter without hours in dairy;. We are rural and do not have alot of time to find like minded people..
I like cottage life (week or so since 1920) but seldom have time. Like to talk about life and stuff. I know lame word but could not come up with another.

Good to hear you are all Covid survivors - nasty business.

Speaking personaly, I'm not sure that neighbours are really much use as 'friends'.

I've lived in my house nearly 20 years, and don't really know my neighbours except to chat in passing about things like rubbish collection, or lawn mowing or whatever.

I think British people can be very reserved, especially neighbours, as you don't want to be 'too' friendly in case you decide you don't like them after all, so best to keep a bit of a distance?

Hi Carriex,
I know what you mean. But it would be nice to have a neighbour to pop in for a morning coffee and a chat. So this may turn into the new way of a morning or afternoon chat over coffee/tea. I do live by the sea so enjoy a walk along the sea front on warmer days.. I love seeing people using the beach huts and enjoying the beach. our little town comes alive when the sun comes out. its like a ghost town in the winter.
Do you have any hobbies? are you married and have any children? I hope you don't mind me asking questions.
Well I hope you have a good week ahead of you. At least the sun is shinning for us today.
Kind Regards
Countrygirlblues.
