Looking to transition from the UK, especially after Liz Truss, only joking, to Dallas. Want to make acquaintances and hopefully future friends. How do I work this site

I am considering moving to Scotland for maybe up to 6 mos. but would like to come over for maybe a month to check out some cities to live. I have joined a couple sites that say "Scottish Penpals" but they are mixed in with England, Ireland and Wales. Would like to visit those areas at some point but for starters I would like to concentrate on Scotland and unless they say they are specifically from Scotland (I do know some of the cities) I have to go to Google and see if they are from England, Ireland, Wales or Scotland.

My daughter has recently divorced and moved in with me so I figure this would be a good time to come to Scotland and check places out as she can watch my house and cats while I'm gone.

So Scots, please help me out here, I don't care if you are a man, a woman, or 20-90 yrs. old. I would just like some info about cities not terribly expensive in your lovely country. For a couple years I've watched A Place To Call Home on TV and they mention Inverness on that. I've been keeping track of temps there and it seems to be very close, if not a tad warmer, to what we have here in central Indiana.

About 4 years ago I took a cruise, I went to the usual tourist cities Edinburgh, Inverness, Ullapool, Isle of Skye, Aberdeen and Oban but was pretty much tied to what the cruise ship offered to see.

I have always loved bagpipe music (although my kids use to limit that to when I was in the car alone) and when I was younger I took 2 years of Highland dancing lessons. I even got 2 or 3 medals. I still have my kilt I wore but unfortunately, after hanging in the closet all these years it has shrunk.

Look forward to being bombarded with info about lovely cities in Scotland.

Hiya, I was born in Glasgow and it has transformed itself in recent years, and I love it but I have lived in Ayrshire for the last 40 years and love it too. Depending on where - it's a nice combo of town, countryside and seaside. And all pretty much within an hour of Glasgow and an hour and a half from Edinburgh.
You like the bagpipes - Glasgow is just about to kick off its annual Celtic Connections - a month-long festival of all things Celtic (https://www.celticconnections.com/ ). Glasow also has the Piping Centre ( https://www.thepipingcentre.co.uk/)
In Ayrshire, we have ferry links to our Islands, too many to mention but google it and a couple of ferries to Ireland too.
( we also have great companies that can accommodate 'adjusting' kilts ! 😉
PM me if you want any more info
Miriam

I got an email from Silversurfers that said I had a response from Miriam 23 and to click "here" to see her comment and respond. I click and it bought me to this page but I see NOTHING that refers to Miriam 23. I even asked my daughter if she could find it and she could not. If worse comes to worse I will just add me email to my posts and people can reply to me that way as this site is very confusing as numerous others have posted!!!!

Finding my way around the Forum. This is my first post and would like to introduce myself. I live in Greater Manchester, I am a widow and my family are far spread around the world. I am a lively 74 years old. My hobbies are bowling (both indoor and out) walking in the countryside, music, films and going out for meals. It would be good to chat with someone with similar interests.
