Pen pals

I have been pen palling for a while now does anyone else do this and is there somewhere on the site for this? It would be nice to write to people on here if they were interested.

Good Day Doreen, You asked about cats -- I have my 3 indoor kitties and I feed 7 outdoor (homeless) cats. I agree with you about the (very different) temperaments between cats + dogs. Dogs are loving/faithful, but cats (act like they) own you. I didn't know that folks in England ALSO use that phrase "Over the Pond," when they refer to the USA. I just thought it was a phrase that Americans use when talking about England. I agree with you --- that when I hear the word POND, I think of water on a village green. My Best to You, Vicki

Morning. Iโ€™m looking for a pen pal with equestrian, wildlife, photography interests. I love to walk when my hips allow and I also draw. I have been involved with New Forest Ponies for 40 years & currently own a 7yr old which, with help I backed at the age of 64, Iโ€™m now 66. My body complains bitterly & my confidence is not what it use to be but I am not quite ready to give up yet. I love the countryside & wildlife and have a particular interest in owls & bats. I am in West Sussex and if anyone would like to write and share interests I would love to hear from you, eventually either emailing or messenger. Thank you.
Response from Doreen2 made on 29th Jun 2020 19:22:46
To tawny
Read your posting, if you look at the other postings there is a catlady24 her name is vicki, we started a couple of days ago posting to each other, she is in America, our interests seem similar to yours , I suggested to her we include you in our postings, as you can see from her reply she likes the idea, so if you reply to her she would be pleased
Response from Tawny made on 29th Jun 2020 20:29:23 > @Doreen2
Thank you for responding, will do, sounds good. I am still finding my way round using this page on this site so bear with me!
Response from Doreen2 made on 30th Jun 2020 06:49:36
Just read the postings between yourself and Vicki, lovely, donโ€™t you both think itโ€™s a good idea having a circle of us, lots of new interests to think and talk about
Response from Tawny made on 30th Jun 2020 07:50:44 > @Doreen2
Morning. Yes, itโ€™s a great idea and always good to meet new people and share interests and learn about new ones too

Hi my name is Paula I am 70 years young and live in Spalding Lincolnshire. I would love to be a pen pal either by messenger or the old fashioned way, letter post. I would be most interested in someone from any European country. I am disabled, live alone, apart from my dog and two cats. I enjoy reading, art, gardening (new thing since COVID struck) countryside, seasides, and my greatest passion is singing. If you are interested get in touch.
Response from AllisonM7 made on 26th Jun 2020 11:14:05

My name is Allison. I'm not from Europe but from Tasmania, Australia. I would love to be your pen pal. I love with my fiance and my cat and dog. I love films and arts:)

Hi
Anyone interested in 2020 in a pen pal aged 83 who has things to say on less than trivial topics
who is flexible and adaptable but needs the contact from self isolation that writing online would bring.
Esther
Response from MayaMac made on 10th May 2020 16:20:08
Hello Esther I would very much enjoy writing to you about any subject you choose.
Response from ebrown3441 made on 11th May 2020 00:24:09 > @MayaMac
Great. I am a stream of consciousness sort of person. It will tumble out in emails (maybe).
Is that okay with you?
Response from ebrown3441 made on 11th May 2020 08:03:21 > @MayaMac
Hi MayaMac
Thans for your kind offer to write anything on a topic of my choice. I hope you will do the same.
Did you enjoy communicating with a young person assuming you did. I am not sure I would. Too patronizing for me to even suggest it. Do you think people are genuinely looking for friends? Not so sure as there are plenty of groups out there. Maybe they are expecting too much.
True the virus is making us look for online friends or at least people to communicate with. It is new to me though I have thought about finding a penpal before and never done it. Now is the time for me.
Do you want to talk about yourself (your life and occupation sounds interesting and not run of the mill), and relaionships or what you have done with or to others. Up to you of course.
I have a phobic fear of animals which probably is genetic coz my mother had the same fear as does my daughter. My brothers and son do not. There now you know that I have two kids both grown up and 1 grandchild. I try not to show fear but online it doesn't matter I am scared of Convid 19 though and that is another story.
Enough for now. When you repond I will tell you more and I hope you will do the same.
Take care.
Esther

Hi sorry for belated reply I have not been on for a while. I notice further down you are not going to check posts... I hope you do or you will miss my belated and sorry-looking response. I tend to have a lot of irons in the fire (even or especially - at this time as I need to be busy I am one of those types - and I am doing a lot of pro bono work with clients online whose animals are upset with the new regime in the home and this again will change and separation anxieties kick in when people return to the norm (if indeed they do). Anyway will stop warbling on here incase you do not see this - again apologies for late response. Mx

Good Morning, I am new to pen palโ€™s I have been married for over 20 years and I am at present living in a Nursing Home in Staffordshire, Then few days ago I received a letter telling me my marriage is over and we are now separated.

Hence I wanted to see if I could find a pen pal.

It would to be able to talk ? I enjoy watching films, reading, I am interested in history mainly in England.

I enjoy listening to country music.
Response from MayaMac made on 20th May 2020 07:40:01

Am looking for 'pen to paper' penpals, to exchange 'banter' with...I am currently missing seeing people in social settings, miss the chat & exchange - am a supporter of 'pub culture (even though I am not a great drinker).

I enjoy writing, reading books, music (seeing bands), appreciate art, growing things ( flowers, food), country-life, cats, nature, walking and riding pillion.

I live in Dorset, am 56 and look forward to making 'new friends' to exchange letters with. Anything.....be it gloriously worded long letters, or just any everyday chat and I like laughs too.

In the meantime, to celebrate Stevie's Birthday today......"Signed, Sealed, Delivered.....I' m Yours"

Hello Patricia,

So sorry I didn't get back to you sooner ; I have "hit and miss" problems with my old laptop ! The broadband signal where I am can be a bit of a lottery at times .

Thank you for the welcome to us "newbies" . It's so good to have a connection to each other , and maybe not feel as lonely too .; especially now of course .

I'm not really used to "chat rooms" , as I tend to use the phone and emails mostly , but when I was a bit younger I loved writing a letter or two to pen pals in the post ( what's that eh ? !! ) and used to enjoy thinking out and writing the odd poem when I was a youngster ; especially about nature .

Would be lovely to hear from you again Patricia , if you'd like that .
All best wishes to you and your family ,
Keep well.

Also , best wishes and keep well to everyone on Silversurfers !

It's Island Pat as I now live in Cyprus but I was born in Bloxwich maternity home and lived in Walsall in the Birchills area, not too far from Reedswood Park.

Have lots of relatives in Bloxwich - am doing my family tree

We are very restricted at the moment, weather not too good today but did get to 20 C. It has rained but dodged the rain to walk the dog.

We went to the King Evathelon hotel near Coral bay in the February 2years ago and weather was lovely, everyone was flying kites on the beach and having barbecues.
I will be glad when this lockdown is over so we can start traveling again,we were meant to be going to Turkey in 2weeks time but it's been cancelled,we did manage to get a week in Gran Canaria though at the end of February which was nice. What are your hobbies?I like gardening and spending time with our 3cats, their are plenty of stray cats to feed in Cyprus aren't their

Ann look above Elgin52 from Walsall and Bees Knees is a Brummie ๐Ÿ™‚

Look at Neale St Walsall, where I lived, it's off Hollyhedge Road and so is Pargeter St. Did she go to St Andrew's School?

Your mum may have known him.

https://www.expressandstar.com/editors-picks/2015/05/12/plaque-unveiled-at-walsall-home-of-bletchley-park-codebreaker/

I was at Bletchley last May - easy to get there on the train from Walsall.

I live in Kolossi. You were here on Green Monday - equivalent of Shrove Tuesday, Lent starts next day.

I had a trip to UK booked leaving Wednesday 29th April, returning 13th May - been cancelled as you'll realise.

I have joined C3A (U3A in UK) and go to book club and lead the family history group. Can spend hours up my tree.

Our dog, as a very young pup, was abandoned and walked into our house one night and she's nearly 5 now. Lots of cats are being caught by charities and neutered then returned to where they were caught. They normally have a clipped ear to prove they are neutered.

Hope your weather holds up - we have rain!!!! but was 20 C today.

Stay safe

Response from islandPat made on 29th Apr 2020 17:56:17
Hello Rob,

Well lets see - didn't go to pubs in Walsall as I was too small to be taken seriously and had a drink taken off me at 21 in Walsall - by then I had a WRAF ID card with DOB.

Used to walk up St Matthew's hill quite often as I had relatives in Tantarra St, Chuckery Rd, Walsingham St and Moncrieffe St. It was either the hill, Ablewell St or a walk through the Arboretum to Crabtrees and then to whoever we were going to see.

Pleck Park was Edward Shelley's games area until they decided the cars needed the area more and took it for the M6. St John's was Edward Shelley's church for Christmas and Easter.

I went to Fellows Park but also Villa. Knew a family lived near you the Woods.

Been to Mellish Church, knew people in Borneo St.

When we had a caravan we stayed at the Caravan Club Site near Scarborough.

I too loved the Arboretum, spent hours in there, the lights were magic. I took my children one year and watch their faces - magic for them too.

We both left at 18 then but I scooted around UK for a few years before ancoring up in Newark followed by Walesby both in Notts.

Nice to meet you - we're the Bloxwich Mat Home Musketeers ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi,Rob, lovely to hear your memories of Walsall. The lady you mentioned on the sweet stall used to teach my mom piano lessons.Walsall has changed a great deal now and a lot of the town centre pubs have closed now.The arboretum has recently enjoyed a much needed facelift and has a new cafe by the boat lake.My mom used to walk up the steep hill by Saint Matthews to work at stammers factory when she was 14, Happy days.Take care from Ann

Oh the Arboretum. My mother & I, my children (who are now 22 & 18) and my nephew (27) went to the Arboretum to see the lights some years ago when they were small.
When I was visiting my mother in Great Barr.

We also used to take the kids swimming to the Walsall baths. (My mother having learned to swim later in life and a better swimmer than any of us).

We used to go to a wool/knitting shop a stone's throw from the market and again my mother would knit some creations for my little ones.

We would catch the No 51 bus from the Scott Arms Shopping Centre (Grt Barr) travel up the Birmingham Rd and be in Walsall within 15/20 mins.
My children unfamiliar with double decker buses found it a novelty..

Thanks for your chat message earlier Pat.

Have a.nice evening.
