Tokyo Station by Martin Cruz Smith. Very interesting despite knowing the historical perspective err I'd and what is going to happen in world terms. Interesting view of Japanese culture but makes the story very slow moving. Interested in seeing how it all works out and wondering if some parts are true or fiction. Bargain buy at a charity second-hand bookstall.

Am I reading this right and the last comment was 2 years ago? I am new to the site and am an avid reader. Currently reading "Heart Shaped Box" by Joe Hill and just completed "The One" by John Marrs. I am hoping there are some readers here in 2021!

I also tend to read crime books. Have just read Frozen Grave by Lee Weeks. Excellent book. There are two more in the series which I intend to read. I have a Kindle full of books (well 850) but occasionally I see one advertised which is too expensive on Kindle so I borrow from the library.
Response from jeanmark made on 12th Nov 2016 18:11:17
I always have books and couldn't get on with a kindle, I like the feel of a book to much. Lee Child is one of my favourite authors, I haven't read any Lee Weeks but will look out for them now.

Reading Martina Coles latest book Betrayal. Looking good so far providing you can get past the bad language in your mind.
Response from jeanymay made on 12th Nov 2016 10:04:05
Hi I have read all her books, and I agree you have to ignore the language but an excellent read. Bit of the Kray twins sort of thing
Response from Vantodder made on 12th Nov 2016 10:38:36
Also read a book called Betrayal, but this one was written by Ian Smith.

I tend to read crime thrillers, I've just finished Mo Hayden's 'Poppet' and now reading Michael Connelly.

I am re-reading a Peter James book. Not Dead Yet. I have read all his Roy Grace series once and now in the process of reading them for a second time. They are so good, if you enjoy Crime and Mystery. First time I read them I read quite quickly so I like to read them a second time to take in all the details.
Response from Lytham lucky made on 14th May 2016 15:17:50
Hi everyone yes I always read them twice I also like Nikki French I like to be sucked in in the first few pages
Response from bertieostrich made on 12th Nov 2016 06:00:28
I love the Roy Grace books they are very readable and re-readable. I have a friend who went to school with peter and appears in one of his books as a detective. His name is Tom Macdonald.

I am way behind with Terry Pratchetts 'Discworld' books. I find it impossible to settle down to read, if I have any anxiety in real life. My divorce then my (ex) wife's passing away, put a hold on normal existence for quite a while. But I'm slowly getting back on track again.
I also used to enjoy Terry Goodkinds 'Richard and Kahlan' stories. I've still got 3 hardback volumes to catch up on, which my son bought for me a while ago.
I do use the Wattpad app on my iPad which has some brilliant stories. And best of all. They are all free!
Response from Gabbybird made on 26th Mar 2016 22:25:33
I read Pratchetts Discworld books years ago and loved them! My son has read all of Goodkinds books! I do much of my reading on my Kindle but I love paper books! Have you read any of David Eddings books?
Response from Goldfynche made on 26th Mar 2016 22:34:57
Sorry. Can't say I have. My daughter has a kindle. But I've got more than enough to ge getting on with, with Wattpad!

Just finished "Justice Calling (The Twenty-Sided Sorceress Book 1)" Kindle Edition
by Annie Bellet. A quick read and interesting, will probably read more of this series. But right now I'm reading "The Tenth Chamber: A Thriller" by Glenn Cooper AND "The Shekinah Legacy (A Charlotte Ansari Thriller Book 1)" Kindle Edition by Gary Lindberg. Both excellant, so far!

Finished reading The Truth by Michael Palin last night. Took me a while to get into the book. At first I thought it might be more of a travelogue than a novel but about halfway through there was a change of direction, a bit of action, and the promise of more to come.
Still not sure how to rate The Truth. It jumps about a bit, there are some sudden changes of direction but it left me thinking about truth and our society. I suspect that that was what Palin intended.
